More About Us
Executive Summary
In the rolling hills outside Plettenberg Bay, a quiet revolution is underway — one where horses are not just animals, but catalysts for healing, dignity, and opportunity. At its heart is a committed group of trainers, mentors, and visionaries who believe in the transformative power of equestrian sport to uplift vulnerable youth and restore cultural heritage.
This project proposes the creation of an Equestrian Training Centre focused on equipping at-risk children and young adults with formal equine education, sports development, and career-ready skills. More than a riding school, the Centre will be a sanctuary for learning, growth, and restoration — where young people will not only gain access to over 40 career paths in the equine industry, but also reconnect with their value, self-worth, and sense of direction.
Our vision is bold: to open the gates of an elite sport to those who have historically been excluded, and to reclaim the lost legacy of the Griqua Horse — a powerful cultural symbol that carries with it a forgotten story of strength and resilience. By placing the Griqua Horse at the Centre of our training, we honour both the animal and the people, and create a living bridge between past and future.
This is not a temporary intervention. It is a sustainable, skills-based model that creates real and lasting change. With the right support, the centre will produce confident, employable, and inspired young people — while preserving a vital piece of South Africa’s living heritage.
What begins with a child and a horse becomes a ripple across a generation. We ask the National Lotteries Commission to walk this path with us — to saddle up beside a new movement for social change — one hoofbeat, one lesson, and one transformed life at a time.
